Publication Ethics
Authors’ Guideline:

The editors invite original, scholarly articles and research papers within the broad field of Japanese Studies, language, literature, culture, folk culture, linguistics, education, politics, international relations, J-pop/ popular culture, manga/ anime, film studies, history, society, aesthetics for publication in Taiyō: Journal of Japanese studies (International, Peer-Reviewed, Refereed, Open Access e-Journal), that have not been published previously or submitted elsewhere, and that are not under review for another publication in any medium (e.g., print or electronic).

It will be assumed that submitting an article to this journal implies that all the foregoing conditions are applicable. Review Process: All submitted contributions will be subjected to blind-peer review and published per the plagiarism policy of UGC/MHRD, Government of India.
Submission Requirements:
All manuscripts submitted to “Taiyo” must be the original work of the author(s) and must not have been published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are required to:

Submit original content that has not been copied from other sources.

Properly cite all references, sources, and previously published work, including their own.

Include accurate quotations and provide appropriate citations.
Format:
Word limit:

Research papers: Max 8,000 words
-
Articles & reports: Max 5,000 words
-
Book reviews: Max 2,500 words
-
Translations: Must include the original text and a critical introduction ( Max 2,000 words).

Organization: The structure of research papers should adhere to the following format: Begin with a clear delineation of the study's nature and scope, proceed to outline the methods, materials, tools, procedures, and/or equipment employed, followed by a presentation of findings, a thorough discussion, and ultimately, a conclusion.

Appendices can be incorporated as needed to provide supplementary details.

Additionally, scholarly papers are expected to feature a concise abstract of no more than 300 words, accompanied by 3-5 relevant keywords.

References should be strictly in APA Style.
Review Policy:
Submission and Initial Assessment

Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts to the editor at taiyoejournal@gmail.com

Initial Check: The editorial team conducts an initial check to ensure the submission meets the journal’s formatting and submission guidelines.

Plagiarism Check: Authors are requested to arrange for a plagiarism test report (as per UGC recommendation) and submit the same along with their write-ups. DrillBit/URKUND/Turnitin check for plagiarism would only be considered.
The authors who do not have access to the services mentioned above are requested to contact the editorial team.
Peer Review Process

Assignment to Reviewers: Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.

Double-Blind Review: “Taiyo” employs a double-blind review process where the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous.

Review Criteria: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on the following criteria:

Originality and significance of the research

Clarity and coherence of the presentation

Methodological rigor and appropriateness

Adequacy of literature review and references

Contribution to the field of Japanese Studies

Decision and Revision
-
Review Reports: Reviewers submit their reports with recommendations (accept, minor revisions, major revisions, reject).

Editorial Decision: The editorial team considers the reviewers' recommendations and makes a decision. The possible outcomes are:

Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication.

Minor Revisions: The author is requested to make minor changes.
-
Major Revisions: The author is asked to make significant changes and resubmit.
-
Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication.

Revision: Authors can revise their manuscripts based on the reviewers' feedback. Revised manuscripts are usually sent back to the original reviewers for further assessment.
Final Decision and Publication

Final Review: Once the revisions are satisfactory, the editorial team makes the final decision on acceptance.

Proofreading: Accepted manuscripts undergo proofreading and formatting.

Publication: The final version is published online and available to the academic community.
Plagiarism Policy
At “Taiyo,” we uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and originality. This policy outlines our stance on plagiarism and the measures we take to ensure the integrity of the content published in our journal.
Detection of Plagiarism
“Tayio” employs a comprehensive approach to detect plagiarism, including:

Utilizing advanced plagiarism detection software to screen all submitted manuscripts.

Conducting thorough peer reviews to ensure the originality of content.

Encouraging reviewers to report any suspected cases of plagiarism.
If plagiarism is detected, the following steps will be taken:

Initial Assessment: The editorial team will conduct a preliminary assessment to confirm the presence of plagiarism.

Notification: The author(s) will be notified of the suspected plagiarism and will be given an opportunity to respond.

Consequences:

Minor Plagiarism: Minor instances of plagiarism (e.g., missing citations and limited paraphrasing) may result in a request for revision and proper citation.

Major Plagiarism: Major instances of plagiarism (e.g., substantial copying, data falsification) will immediately reject the manuscript. Additionally, the author(s) may be banned from submitting future manuscripts to “Taiyo.”

Ethical Conduct
“Tayio” is committed to promoting ethical conduct in research and publication. We believe that upholding academic integrity is essential to maintaining the trust of our readers, authors, and the broader academic community.
Authors who disagree with the editorial decision can appeal by providing a detailed explanation and supporting evidence. The editorial board will review appeals.
